Los Angeles Times Design — Digital Campaigns

Designing scalable digital experiences across editorial, marketing, and live event platforms.

Responsive Web, Email & Campaign Systems

Los Angeles Times design work spanned a wide range of digital touchpoints, including responsive web design systems, email campaigns, and large-scale marketing platforms. As a UX/UI graphic designer in Los Angeles, I worked at scale—within real deadlines, real traffic, and the weight of a nationally recognized media brand.

I designed and built digital experiences across responsive microsites, landing pages, and high-visibility campaigns, ensuring each execution remained clear, adaptable, and performance-driven. In addition, each layout was structured to maintain consistency across devices while supporting fast load times and seamless user interaction. At the same time, responsive email design required precision—balancing visual clarity with technical constraints across platforms, screen sizes, and inbox environments.

Within the Brand Marketing Department, Los Angeles Times design systems functioned as performance-driven tools. Every banner, email, and landing page was created to communicate quickly, convert effectively, and reinforce brand identity at scale. As a result, each system remained visually cohesive and structurally sound, supporting millions of user interactions across web, mobile, and campaign environments.

Email Design & Front-End Execution

I created and coded responsive email campaigns, balancing visual design with technical constraints. Because email environments vary widely, layouts were carefully structured for compatibility and readability. This ensured consistent delivery across platforms while preserving the brand experience.

WordPress & Content Systems

Working within WordPress, I customized themes, managed content updates, and supported ongoing site maintenance. In addition, I refined layouts and templates to improve usability and streamline publishing workflows.

Event & Experiential Design

Within the Brand Marketing Department, I contributed to visual systems for major events including:

  • The Taste
  • Travel Show
  • Festival of Books
  • The Envelope

These projects required scalable design solutions that translated seamlessly across digital, print, and environmental applications.

Design Approach

The work emphasized structure, clarity, and adaptability. By aligning design systems with real-world use, each project supported both creative expression and functional performance.

News branding moves fast. It has structure. It has rules.

My role was to maintain brand consistency while refreshing the visual tone across campaigns, ads, and internal assets. That meant subtle shifts — cleaner typography pairings, increased white space, softened layouts, and more intentional hierarchy.

Scope

  • Print advertising layouts
  • Digital ad campaigns
  • Brand-aligned promotional materials
  • Ongoing visual refinement across departments

Tools | InDesign | Illustrator | Photoshop

This wasn’t about disruption. It was about elevation.

Final Direction

The result was a series of digital experiences that supported high-profile live events while maintaining brand consistency at scale. Pages loaded fast. Emails rendered clean. Event sites felt intentional — not templated.

As a Los Angeles UX/UI graphic designer, I approach digital work with the same mindset as brand systems: structure first, aesthetics second, performance always.
