Editorial Design & Campaign Systems
Working with the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, I designed digital and editorial assets that balance clarity, structure, and visual rhythm. The goal was to make content feel easy to navigate while maintaining a strong and consistent visual identity.
Because editorial environments move quickly, each piece was designed to be flexible, readable, and ready for production.
With Los Angeles News Group, I worked within an established brand that spans publications across California’s Southland. The goal wasn’t reinvention. It was refinement. Lightening the visual weight. Creating space. Introducing a more airy, breathable rhythm across print and digital while honoring the integrity of a legacy news organization.
Responsive by Design
Each layout was considered across screen sizes from the start. Instead of adapting designs later, the structure was built to shift naturally between desktop, tablet, and mobile.
That approach improves usability and keeps the experience consistent across devices.
I focused on content-first layouts that support readability and flow. Through careful use of typography, spacing, and hierarchy, complex information becomes easier to scan and understand.
As a result, even dense editorial content feels clean and accessible.
Production-Ready Design Systems
Beyond visuals, I created assets that were easy for teams to use and update. Templates, layout systems, and repeatable components helped streamline production while maintaining a cohesive look.
So, even under tight deadlines, the work remained polished and on-brand.
Designing Within a Living System
News branding moves fast. It has structure. It has rules.
My role was to maintain brand consistency while refreshing the visual tone across campaigns, ads, and internal assets. That meant subtle shifts — cleaner typography pairings, increased white space, softened layouts, and more intentional hierarchy.
Scope
- Print advertising layouts
- Digital ad campaigns
- Brand-aligned promotional materials
- Ongoing visual refinement across departments

This wasn’t about disruption. It was about elevation.
Each design is built with responsiveness in mind from the start. Instead of adapting later, layouts are considered across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
That actually improves engagement, because users can navigate content easily on any device.
Consistent Across Touchpoints
From digital assets to editorial graphics, each piece aligns with the broader voice of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. Color, typography, and layout work together to support both storytelling and brand recognition.
Final Direction — Editorial Design & Digital Experience
This work reflects a balance between editorial function and visual design—where clarity leads, and design supports the story.
The result is a more modern, breathable digital presence — one that feels current without abandoning its roots. Through refined typography, improved spacing, and a more intentional layout system, the experience becomes easier to navigate across web and mobile.
The brand remains recognizable. The system stays intact. But the execution feels lighter, clearer, and more confident.
As a Los Angeles graphic designer focused on editorial digital design and responsive UX, I understand when to push — and when to respect what’s already working.
